The Big Island trip was just exactly what Max and I needed. It was short but sweet and we had lots of fun exploring the island. The Big Island is very different from Oahu and from Maui. I visited Maui a couple of years ago but I have to admit that the Big Island is my favorite so far. The flight is very short, about forty minutes from Honolulu International Airport. There are two major airports on the Big Island, Kona and Hilo. We landed in Kona because the hotel that we booked was a much shorter drive from Kona. We stayed at the beautiful Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. The hotel property was very close to small shopping stores and convenient stores. That same day, we decided to drive to Kona and do some sightseeing. I am a huge fan of dark chocolate, actually, chocolate in general so we decided to stop at this local store that sells chocolate covered macadamia nuts in all kinds of flavors. The funny part was the name of the store and the label on the chocolate as you can see in the pictures. Because it was Max's birthday, we ended our day with a romantic dinner at the hotel property overlooking the sunset in Waikoloa.

More pitures to come!
